The Psychology of Advertising

One thing that I find most interesting about advertising is the amount of thought that goes into what may look like a simple advertisement. Everything that goes into an advertisement from the phrases, colors, and font choice determine how the public will perceive, and receive the advertisement.

Due to new media today, the dynamic of advertising has changed from how it was originally born. Alongside print ads, many new forms of digital ads were conceived. Through broadcasting on radio or television, or having spots on Facebook and Twitter, advertisers must think of new ways to market and advertise their messages through new platforms.

Apple utilizes minimalism in their ads to attract their customers and portrays a "sleek" and "cool" feel to any of those who use their products.

In this example, the "Black tie optional" phrase positions the iBook G3 as a laptop that can have the performance for a professional, but still has a fun and trendy side to it.

Many ads today are becoming more and more creative. What are your favorite advertisements and why? Post in the comments section below!
